A recent study at the College of Graduate Studies at the Arabian Gulf University (AGU) stressed the importance of designing an environment for collaborative e-learning and presented its effect on developing computer subject competencies for seventh-grade middle school students in the State of Kuwait. The study was presented by researcher Yasmin Suleiman Al-Mutawa as part of the requirements for obtaining a master’s degree in the field of distance education and training. While discussing it, she said that her thesis was concerned with designing an environment for cooperative e-learning and exploring its effect in developing computer subject competencies for seventh-graders in the State of Kuwait. The researcher used the experimental approach in semi-experimental design for one group, and the research experiment was applied in the first semester of the academic year (2019/2020).

The research sample consisted of (25) students from the seventh-grade middle school in the State of Kuwait, whose ages ranged between (11 – 13) years. To obtain the necessary data for the research, the researcher prepared three tools for measurement: the first one is represented in the achievement test for measuring the competencies of the computer subject, a product evaluation card for performance skills, and a measure of the degree of satisfaction of students with the collaborative e-learning environment that was applied to them.

Furthermore, the validity and reliability of these tools were verified through expert arbitration and statistical treatment, the test tool that was applied before and after, the application of the evaluation card tool, and the scale of satisfaction after. The results of the study indicated that there are statistically significant differences in the research results between the average scores of the pre- and post-test which came in favor of the post-test.
