The Ministry of Finance (MoF) and the Federal Electricity and Water Authority (FEWA) signed an agreement to adopt the e-Dirham system to enable FEWA to receive service fees electronically. The agreement aims to enhance FEWA’s efforts to facilitate the collection process for its clients which will increase customer satisfaction and strengthen its institutional work.

The agreement was signed by HE Younis Haji Al Khoori, Undersecretary of MoF and HE Mohammed Mohammed Saleh, the Director General of FEWA, in the presence of HE Saeed Rashid Al Yateem, Assistant Undersecretary of the Resources and Budget Sector at MoF, Azza Al Suwaidi, Director of the Revenue Development Department at MoF, Adnan Naseeb Salem, Executive Director for Joint Services Department at FEWA, Othman Juma’a, Director of the Financial Department, Abdullatif Galadari, the IT Director and a number of senior employees from both parties.

HE Younis Haji Al Khoori was pleased with the announcement of e-Dirham and FEWA collaborating on the system. The e-Dirham system was adopted by multiple government entities for its vital role in improving cashless payments and its collection mechanisms for government services. This contributed to developing a safe and easy payment system, reduceing the users’ time and efforts and enhancing the financial systems.

He stressed on MoF’s commitment to continue working on smart government services and developing the e-Dirham system as it’s an important initiative by the Ministry for its role in enhancing cash flows and reducing, time along with human and financial resources.

HE Mohammed Mohammed Saleh, the Director General of FEWA also stressed on the Authority’s commitment to enhance its customer service on all levels, including facilitating fee collections. He extended his gratitude towards MoF for the effort undertaken by them in the sector.

The second generation of the e-Dirham system, which was launched in 2011, possesses a flexible characteristic making it easy to integrate with e-government services and to be able to develop different payment methods for e-collections that adhere to international standards.

​​​e-Dirham is a system launched by the Ministry of Finance (MoF) of the UAE in 2011 to develop a system of electronic channels and digital payment gateways to collect service fees and revenue for the Federal Government via Prepaid Cards, in order to enhance the delivery of public services.
